Curb Your Enthusiasm

The excessive exuberance of Bears fans this year has many reasons to be tempered. Before the humiliating fiasco against the Dolphins, the local press and fans had been whipped into a near hysteria. Everyone seemed to be confident in ordering tickets for Miami in October, building a wing in Canton for Rex and predicting an undefeated season. Somehow, this all happened while overlooking the easy schedule, dismisssing the near meltdown in Arizona and Minnesota and overrating a very raw Rex Grossman. Now, the Bears are on the cusp of being labeled the most overrated team of '06.

A convincing victory over the Giants is necessary for the Bears and their fans to regain some confidence that the '06 team is not a one-and-done playoff team and really is a legitimate Super Bowl contender. If Rex faulters and the defense allows Tiki Barber to run amok, the '06 Bears will be revealed as Super Frauds, not Super Bowl bound.

Well, Bears won, but I don't think of it as a convincing win................seems to be heavy tonnes of hype w/ this tea; but 8-1 is not a bad start, no matter how they have looked so far in many games. We'll see, but anytine the line gives grossman time to throw, he seesm to do well. When they have 350lb lineman hauling down o him, then his iexperience shows. Give him, and I guess the team, more time.............
