Bears Wrap

Good News- Bears clinch home field: Bad News -Defense confirms its ordinary.

Just when this game was a near blowout, the Bucs turned around and tied the game. The comeback was orchestraded by a benchwarmer with a backyard arm against what was a feared defense. The Bears party line is we're 12-2 and have home field throughout the playoffs. The reality is they can't even pounce on the weak in the weakest conference. The myth of invincibility of the D is long gone. Haven't heard many comparisons to the "46" lately.

Rex played another good game within himself and the system. It was great to see the tight ends involved. The split of Jones and Bensen continues to be effective and a good game plan. Call Gale Sayers; tell him Devin Hester got lost.

The glaring issue remains the defense. In the first half with the offense clicking, the defense was kept off the field and thereby effective. With the offensive difficulty in the second half the defense broke quite easily. They have given up 58pts in two games. Remember, this Bucs offense isn't the Chargers, its more like St. Rita. They are baaad! Yet they rolled up on the Bears D like a swat team rolls up on Tank Johnson.

Even on the surface behind closed doors the Bears brass has to be worried. First it was an offense that couldn't score and gave away pts. Now you have a defense that can't stop second rate teams and may lose Tank tomorrow. Lovie just keeps reminding us with that 12-2 crap. 12-2 against who Lov? I've said it before but once again "one and done"- the Bears are doing they're best make it come true.

Have you seen the rest of the NFC? The Bears are not going to be one and done. You will be making a retraction on this one.

Seems like a lot of people want us to make retractions at DCS. Seriously, how can you be happy with that OT victory over the hapless Bucs at home. There is a disturbing pattern here, just like Jackson said.
