NBA Preview: Phoenix Suns 2007-08 Champs

This years NBA season, the first with the officiating scandal front and center, promises to actually have some interesting on the court shenanigans. First up, where will Kobiage go? I am willing to trade Wallace, Gordon and Duhon, even Heinrich and several other scrubs to get the Kobiage. He is still best player in the league and I don't think the Bulls can win with their current collection of above average role players. Ben Wallace is on the downhill side of his career, even with the headband. If Heinrich wasn't white, no one would even talk about him. These players will never win a championship, trust me. Look at at the past NBA Champs, every single one of them had an all time great player and at least one other very good player. The only exception would be the Pistons, but they had three or four very good players.

Kobe, Thomas and Deng would form a great nucleus. Noah would have to grow up fast. I think that team would have a better chance than the current collection. I don't know if Paxson can get past his ego and ditch the current plan, but he should. It a decade since the Bulls have one, that is long enough. it's time to bring a winner back to the United Center. Not a playoff also-ran, but a bona fide Championship.

Around the league the East might have a new legitimate contender with the Celtics, but I think Doc Rivers will hold them back in the playoffs. The Knicks might actually be improved. The Spurs are still the class of the league. Can the Suns finally get over the hump this year. I think so. Oden is out, making Portland's season a total loss. I think this is finally going to be Phoenix' year.

So here are my predictions.

East

Atlatic - Boston
Central - Detroit
Southeast - Miami

West

Northwest - Utah
Pacific - Phoenix
Southwest - San Antonio

Eastern Conference Finals: Boston over Chicago
Western Conference Finals: Phoenix over San Antonio

NBA Finals: Phoenix over Boston in Five

miami would be hard pressed to win their division. The bulls will be lucky to be in the eastern championship. The spurs should win again.

I have to strongly disagree senior jackson. The Heat will have a completely healthy Dwayne Wade. Remember he is a top five player. Who else is going to win their division, Washington? I don't think so. As for the Spurs, even though they have won 4 championships, they have never won back to back titles. I don't see this year being any different. This is going to be Phoenix' year. Just remember you read it here first on DCS.

wade will miss the first 3months. Shaq has very little desire left. Actually washington will be very good. Arenas is healthy, though he is reported to be going to the lakers.

With all due respect, unless Miami stumbles upon some swimming pool bobbin with regenerative hoary cocoons, they ain't gonna amount to dick. There's no arguing that Wade is the shit and an all star but driving a busload of knockneed geriatrics gets pretty tiresome. Imagine Driving Miss Daisy times 10. For 80 games. Old folk get crotchety. Bus starts smelling. Activator starts collecting on the headrest and it's all coming from Pat Riley.

I'm surprised they haven't literally tried to pry Robert Parish out of the coffin. They could tie a rocking chair to the roof and he can toss out circus peanuts to the crowd.

At least they got the penultimate rookie called Little Penny. . .that's a joke on us right? Something about old folks homes and dying in Florida?

I see it now. The jist of the Heat's offseason was to grab more older dudes out of retirement just to make everyone (that includes me and you) feel that much younger.

The Heat should consider changing their game intro theme song to something more appropriate like Peaches and Herb's Reunited. . .The Busboys' The Boys are Back in Town. . .or something classy like Rubberband Man.

I didn't know you were still alive. nice to see you commenting on dcs. we'll see about the heat, i don't believe in washington and i think shaq knows this is his last year to do anything before he does need a regenerative cocoon. Linda Harrison was the greatest in the original planet of the apes as the mute nova, not so much in cocoon.
