The Sinking Ship

The Sox season is sinking fast in what amounts to a pre white flag season. Currently they reside in 4th place with only one batter hitting better than .250. They have lost all of their speed and the small ball that brought them a World Series is only a memory.

Their challenges begin with being in the most competitive division in the league. Couple this with a very poor attempt to copy murderers row and a lack of fire and we may have some competition for K.C. Amazingly, Ozzie has been unusually silent throughout this slide. This may indicate that the hunger is gone and next years Washington Nationals blueprint is being executed ahead of time.

Unless the pitching is shutout like, the Sox have great difficulty scoring. They are all swinging for the fences with very poor results. The Thome trade has been a complete failure. He has continued his pattern of injury/mediocre production.

Yes their record may be better than the Cubs, but they will end up in the bottom of the division. This appears to be their last chance before the "rebuilding" begins. Reinsdorf is, indeed, a very frustrating owner. He is willing to admit via his trades that money is the bottom line.

It would be refreshing to hear Ozzie go against the company line, but winning isn't in the plan this year.

Sinking ship? Didn't this team just Win the World Series several months ago? What kind of anti-sox comment is this?

The Sox won the Series in '05. It'll be seven more decades before Sox fans start panicking

"The Thome trade has been a complete failure. He has continued his pattern of injury/mediocre production." What?? Last year Thome had .288 avg, .416 OBP, .598 slugging with 42 homers and 109 ribbies in 143 games. He is on the DL now, but rehab in minors has begun. His "mediocre" stats for this year are .340 avg, .553 OBP and .680 slugging in 19 games. I guess I'm missing the failure and mediocre parts of the equation.

I can only assume it's the rantings of a typical Cub fan (i.e. one that knows close to absolutely nothing about baseball). Hey, if I showed you an overhead view of Wrigley Field, would you be able to point out 3rd base? Or only the beer vendors?

both cubs and sox fans are full of shit. the more success the sox have, the more their fans will become like the cubs- fair weather and corporate. It comes with the territory of winning or having a product many want to see. sox fans have always been jealous of the cubs because they get all of the attention. cubs fans don't often know the score or who they're playing, but they do know they are at a party. Hey, its a baseball game after all. the worst stadium fans by far are the bulls fans.75% corporate comps and at least 20% out of town.

One run on four hits will have to be enough.

I'm a Sox fan, but since I just barthroomed myself, I'm no longer full of Cubs - they are swirling around the toilet and ......yes, there they go......

Lazers-

This comment about Cubs fan not knowing what the score is is total bs. I go to games and even sometimes keep score. The people around me all know the stats of the players. Just because people are having a good time does not make them ignorant of baseball. Why is this the continual gripe by sox fans? Do you have to have a mullet or come to the game in your construction boots to know something about baseball? Do only people in acid jeans and no bankroll know baseball? Please. These comments just simply aren't true.

What about the theory that all Cub fans were birthed in Iowa??

Bonnix is right. When I was a Cubs fan, way back in the Cubs glory days before August 1984, I also used to keep score.
